  BHR1287 is a radio service operated by BASILDON HOSPITAL RADIO, which is a registered charity. Basildon Hospital Radio has been broadcasting to the Patients, Staff & Visitors of Basildon University Hospital since 1974.

  Shortly after Basildon Hospital opened, the Radio Station began it's road to success, starting out by transmitting from a small studio in the tower block of Basildon Hospital.

  Things have certainly moved on in 33 years; since relocating in 1993 the Station has moved to purpose built, fully equipped studios.

  All the money donated to Basildon Hospital Radio goes towards running the radio service , so that BHR1287 can supply entertainment & news free of charge to the Patients of the     Hospital.

    BHR1287 has no paid officers & all administration costs are paid for by our volunteers via a membership subscription.

  We broadcast 24 hours a day throughout the year, with our live programmes & the automated service which plays a continuous mixture of news, features & request show favourites.

    Since December 2000 we have broadcast not only on headsets & day room wall speakers but also on 1287 Medium Wave across Basildon University Hospital!
